Yesterday was my 44th birthday. Hardly a milestone in the grand scheme of things, but significant things are going on in my head. While I can hardly claim a midlife "crisis" I do claim a midlife pondering as to the meaning of life. Not just life per se, but my life. We've all heard the rhetorical questions, "why am I here", "where am I going", "what are you going to do with your life". Good questions!
I tell my faithful, beautiful spouse and best friend for half my life, that in my head I am 10 years old. Yeah...really 10 years old. I'm still that little kid that is sarcastic, inappropriate in public and likes to tease my little sister. I have refused to grow up in my head and often that kid pops out in my grown up world. When the 10 year old pops out I usually get a humorous response, looks of disgust or a puzzled look from someone who has no idea what just happened. My poor body on the other hand is pushing 70! So what is my point? Well unlike Seinfeld's sitcom, a "show about nothing", this blog is a little of everything. Yep, that's it, everything that comes to my ever so fertile mind. If you dare or care to take the ride with me them fasten your seat-belt because who knows where this could take us. I am happy to take on cyber hitch-hikers.
How would I describe myself? I would like to quote one of my all time hero's, Hank Hill, "Dang it, I am sick and tired of every one's asinine ideas about me. I'm not a redneck, and I'm not a Hollywood jerk, I'm something else entirely. I'm...I'm complicated!"
Complicated...I guess we are all complicated. Some more than others.
